Mrs. Louis Heuer died at her home in Read township on Thursday, Jan. 11th, 1912, after an illness of many months' duration. Deceased was born in Germany in 1867 and came to this country in 1881. In the year 1887 she was united in marriage to Ludwig Heuer, who, with his seven children, Ella, married to Wm. Ihlenfelt; Alma, married to Ernst Ihlenfeldt, and Otto, Lucy, Paul, Arno and Lore, mourn her untimely departure. She is also survived by her half-sisters, Mrs. Chas. Rantzow and Mrs. Ed. Breitsprecher, and her aged mother Mrs. Carl Jung, Mrs. Heuer being a daughter of the latter by her first marriage with Mr. Blank. The deceased was an untiring worker all her lifetime and not always taking the necessary precautions to guard against the exposures of such a life, she became afflicted with that dreaded malady rheumatism. A little later dropsy set in, which fully helped to bring on her premature demise. Everything was done to alleviate her sufferings and last fall she was sent to Dubuque, under the care of a specialist, but despite every effort to effect her recovery, she slowly became worse until death came to her relief. The funeral was held on Sunday from her late home, Rev. Burkhard officiating.
