Miss Hilda Nieland, 71, died Tuesday morning, November 7, at the Guttenberg Municipal Hospital following a lingering illness. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Mary's Catholic Church with burial in St. Mary's Cemetery. Father Albert Maternach, pastor of the church, will conduct the services.

Miss Nieland, the daughter of Bernard and Elizabeth Dorweiler Nieland, was born January 23, 1901, in Guttenberg. She lived on a farm near Guttenberg before moving to town last spring.

Survivors include a sister, Mrs. Anton (Theresia) Helle of Dyersville and 16 nieces and nephews.

Friends may call at the Tuecke-Allenstein Funeral Chapel after 1 p.m. Wednesday. The scripture wake service will be at 8 o'clock Wednesday evening at the chapel.
