Elkader Register, Thur., 10 Nov. 1892.

Charles Mandelkow, Sr., one of the early settlers of Read township, died quite suddenly Monday of heart disease. He had been about the yard doing some chores and going into the house, sat down in a chair, dying almost instantly. He was 62 years of age.
