Elkader Register, Thur., 21 Apr. 1892. Strawberry Point column.
Dr. H. Newell Sill, one of the early residents of this place, died at his home at 6:30 o'clock on Wednesday evening of last week, having been sick but eighteen hours. Monday night he attended a patient, and on Tuesday was stricken with pneumonia, and despite the most tender nursing and best medical attendance, he passed from among us. Dr. Sill located in Strawberry Point in 1867, coming here from western New York, and has lived here continuously since that time, following his profession as physician, and was one of the best known practitioners in northeastern Iowa. He was loved and respected by all for his many kindly qualities of heart and mind, and his death is deeply mourned. He leaves a wife, one son and a married daughter. The wife, daughter and husband were with him at the time of his death, but his son H. L., who is connected with the Chicago Tribune, did not arrive until his demise. The funeral took place on Saturday last, and was largely attended.
