Elkader Register, Thur., 04 Feb. 1892.
DIED- At the home of Peter Nickels on Friday, Jan. 29th, Mrs. Margereth Andresen nee Thompson, at the age of 58 years. She was born in Holstein, Germany, April 17th, 1834, and in 1867 with her husband, C. H. Andresen, and two children, emigrated to this country locating at Elkport, where Mr. Andresen engaged as a carpenter. Later they took charge of a hotel at East Elkport. Her husband died in 1887, and she conducted the business until the property was destroyed by fire. Being then afflicted with a cancer, she consulted physicians in several large cities, but finding no relief she finally sought a home with her sister, Mrs. Nickels, where nursed by her children, she prepared for the final event. She leaves six children, three sons and three daughters, a brother and three sisters, one in the old country, together with a host of friends to mourn her death. Her remains were taken to Elkport and laid beside those of her husband and daughter Dora, the funeral being held on Sunday last. May she rest in peace.
