Elkader Register, Thur., 23 Aug. 1888.
On Sunday last, while at work on the roof of his barn, James T. Locknane lost his balance and fell to the ground, a distance of 23 feet. He struck on his head and shoulders, and fractured his skull, besides receiving other severe injuries which resulted in his death an hour or two later.
Mr. Locknane was a native of Kentucky, but had been a resident of Elk township for the past ten years, where he was highly respected by all who knew him. He was 50 years, 1 month, and 14 days of age. His wife died some three years ago, but he leaves five sons and four daughters to mourn his loss.
