Elkader Register, Thur., 22 Dec. 1887.
Mr. Wiechman, another of the old pioneers of Clayton County, died suddenly on Friday morning. He had been quite feeble of late, but his family attributed it to a cold, and entertained no fears. He was up and performed his usual work about his home. He retired on Thursday evening as usual, without complaint. His aged wife arose in the morning and began her work; finding that he slept longer than usual she went to his room to rouse him, and found him dead in his bed, he having apparently died an hour before being found. He leaves besides his aged widow, two children, Mr. C. H. Wiechman, with whom he resided, and Mrs. J. G. Kaiser. His remains were conveyed to National, on Monday.

He has a large gravestone in the National cemetery, engraved J.H. Wiegmann
