Elkader Register, Thur., 15 Sept. 1887. Garnavillo column.

Died at the home of Mrs. Margeretha Thoma, on Wednesday, September 07, at the advance age 75 years, 9 months, 24 days, Mrs. Barbara Poech. The deceased was born in Weisenstadt, Bavaria, November 14, 1811. She emigrated with her husband and five children, to this county in 18_4. Her husband died from sunstroke after being here only one year. Of her children only two survive her. Of these Mrs. Thoma, lives in our midst, while a son, Lawrence, lives in Omaha, Neb. Her remains were conveyed to their last resting place, on Saturday, followed by a large concourse of sorrowing relatives and friends. Rev. F. Sommerlad conducted the ceremony in his usual impressive manner.
