DIED - At Waterloo, Iowa, July 15th, 1887, of chronic inflamation of the brain, Bessie K., only child of W.A. and Ella McGonigle, aged 7 years 6 months and 11 days.
Deceased was brought to Monona for interment, funeral service at residence of her grandfather, Daniel Egbert Esq., conducted by Rev. Frank Elliott. A large circle of relatives and friends following the remains to the cemetery.
Poor little Bessie has been a constant, almost hourly sufferer for the last seven years, the best care of loving parents and kind friends, the best skilled physicians availed nothing; little Bessie after all these weary years of suffering had to yield to the feil destroyer. Oh how little can we know who are enjoying good health, what her sufferings must have been, how little realize the anguish, the heart-aches, the hoping against hope of her parents during all these seven long, weary years, but poor little Bessie is now gently resting, sleeping that peaceful sleep "from which none ever wake to weep."
Her life had so little sunshine in it, so little of that joy that makes life worth the living that 'were wicked, nay cruel to wish her back. Her parents have the heartfelt sympathy of the entire community in their trouble and affliction.

Note: Her gravestone spells surname as McGONIGLE
