Elkader Register, Thur., 21 July 1887.

At the residence of Fred Orr, in Highland township, on Saturday last, occurred the death of Mrs. Calaghan at an advanced age. Mrs. C. was one of the early settlers in Highland township, having located there with her husband early n the fifties, and at her home occurred the first marriage in the township, being the marriage of her daughter Ellen to Mr. Orr, with whom she spent her last days. There are several other children, but they have removed from the county. The funeral took place on Sunday last, her remains being laid away to their long rest in the Catholic cemetery at this place.
