Bergan, Bergit O. 1818 - 1887

Clayton County Journal, 27 Apr. 1887.

Sunday, April 24th, at 4 o'clock a.m., at the residence of her son, Halvor O. Bergan, of Marion township, occurred the death of Mrs. Bergit O. Bergan. The deceased was born in Norway, October 14th, 1818, where she spent her childhood and early married life. In 1851 she came to this country with her husband and settled in Wisconsin, where they remained two years, when they came to Clayton County and settled upon the farm in Marion township, where they lived the remainder of their lives, her husband having passed away several years ago. Mrs. (Bergit) O. Bergan was over 69 years old at the time of her death, and had passed over half her life in Clayton County. Thus it is that one after another the old settlers pass away. The funeral will be held to-day, Wednesday, Rev. O. Waldeland having charge of the services.
