Died at his home near Garnavillo, on Friday Jan. 14th, 1887, Joachim Blum. Mr. Blum was born in Prussia, Germany, in 1831, and emigrated to this country nearly 15 years ago. His family consists of a sorrowing widow and three daughters, two of whom are married. He was a man quiet and unostentatious, who secured a large circle of friends in our community. His remains were borne to their last resting place on Sunday afternoon, accompanied by a large concourse of friends. Rev. F. Sommerlad performed the ceremonies, and in his usual eloquent manner pronounced the eulogy.
