Obituary
Sara Frances Hodges was born in Clayton, Iowa, March 5, 1875. Later she moved to Elkader, Iowa, and attended the Sisters school where she finished her schooling. The family moved to Neola and later to Des Moines in both places she followed the profession of teaching. In 1907 she and her father and sister Mae took up homesteads in Belle Plaine, S. Dak., at which place she was married on June 7, 1910 to W. J. Van Brocklin. To this union were born four children, Margaret, Louise, Wilma and Elizabeth, all of whom survive.
Mrs. Van Brocklin died Friday, Oct. 22, 1920 at Campbells hospital in Norfolk, Nebr., following an operation. The funeral services were held Sunday, at 10:00 a. m. at St. Ludgis Catholic church at Creighton, Nebr. She has been a faithful member of the Catholic church all her life not only professing the religion but practicing it.
Besides her husband, W. J. Van Brocklin and children, she leaves to mourn her loss, one sister Louise Hodges, of Council Bluffs, Iowa, one brother L. C. Hodges of White River, S. Dak.
