MRS. IDA LENTH
Funeral services were held last Friday, Oct. 15, at one o’clock, at the late home, and at 1:30 in the Lutheran church at Farmersburg, for Mrs. Ida Lenth, the Rev. H. M. Adix officiating.
Mrs. Ida Lenth, nee Lemke, was born October 5, 1868, in Read township, Clayton county, Iowa.
Until the time of her marriage she remained with her parents on the farm. On May 23, 1890, she was united in marriage with Wm. Lenth. Together with him, she lived in Farmersburg, with the exception of one year when the lived in St. Olaf, Iowa, and another year they lived in Montana. After her [sic] death of her husband, Oct. 24, 1920, she made her home with her daughter, Mrs. Elmer Klinge for the past 15 years.
Mrs. Lenth was the mother of three children, Alonzo Lenth of Farmersburg, Mrs. Arthur Hinsch of McGregor, Mrs. Elmer Klinge of Farmersburg.
Mrs. Lenth’s health showed signs of failing last spring. For the past several months a rapid failing could be noticed. Her death was finally caused by a stroke on October 12, at 9:00. She reached the age of 69 years and seven days.
It was with loving care that the children watched by the bedside of a mother whose life was rapidly leaving. The daughter with whom she was staying, although not herself strong, gave to the care of her mother the best she had. On Sunday, October 3, they called for her pastor, at which time Mrs. Lenth partook of Holy Communion, assuring herself of the forgiveness of sins for Christ’s sake, and preparing herself for the journey into the great beyond.
She leaves to mourn, her children, Alonzo Lenth of Farmersburg, Mrs. Arthur Hinsch of McGregor, Mrs. Elmer Klinge of Farmersburg; also three grandchildren and her four sisters, Mrs. Wm. Schmidt of Elkader, Mrs. Henry Lenth of Elkader, Mrs. Lena Lenth of Postville, Mrs. Emma Schmidt of Monona. A brother, Henry, died in 1929, and a brother, William, during last summer.
