Elkader Register, Thur., 02 Dec. 1886.

DIED- On Tuesday occurred the death of the two-years-old son of Mr. and Mrs. William Muench, of this township, after a short sickness. The funeral occurred yesterday, the little one being laid to his long sleep in the Catholic cemetery at this place.

Note: 1885 IA State Census, Boardman twp., Clayton co. enumerates Joseph (age 0) in the household of his parents William & Dina, and several siblings who are all too old or still alive in subsequent census' to be the child who died.

Joseph has a gravestone in St. Joseph's cemetery, although the DOD is incorrectly engraved 1887.
