Elkader Register, Thur., 04 Mar. 1886.
Last Sunday evening, Frank Justus, who resided with his father near McGregor, committed suicide by stabbing himself to the heart with a jack knife. From the testimony taken before Coroner Cain, Monday, it is learned that the young man had been slightly deranged for some time past, but it was not supposed he was in a dangerous condition. On Sunday he seemed unusually moody and restless, and early in the evening, while his father and brother were reading, he went to his room, and laying down on his bed, struck the fatal blow. Hearing his groans, his father and brother ran up stairs, just in time to see him breathing his last. A doctor was summoned from McGregor, but before he reached the house, the young man was dead.
He was a little over 26 years of age, and was born in this county. The Coroner's jury, composed of J. Cleveland, A. Nelson and Leland Garaghty, returned a verdict in accordance with the above facts.
