Rachael Hansel, second daughter of George and Mary Hammond, was born in Mallory township, Clayton County, Iowa, Dec. 15, 1867. and died at her home Dec. 18th, 1931, after an illness of short duration, at the age of 64 years and three days.
On Dec. 15, 1886, she was united in marriage to Squire Hansel, who preceded her in death July _, 1931. To this union five children were born: Mrs. Aaron Harbaugh, Mrs. Albert Hageman, Mrs. Gertrude Jennings, Mrs. Winifred Smith of Garber, Iowa, and Palmer Hansel, on the home place.
Besides her children, she leaves to mourn her loss, fourteen grandchildren, one great-grandchild, one sister, Minnie Hammond, of Garber, two brothers, Bert Hammond of Garber, and John Hammond of Clear Lake, Wis., and many friends.
Mrs. Hansel was a woman of high respect and was thought much of in this community.
Funeral services were held at her home Monday afternoon at one o'clock. Interment was in Brown's cemetery, Rev. Northdurf officiating.
