Clayton County Register, Thur., 10 Dec. 1931.

Mike Tieden, 63, residing on a farm near Dodge Center, Minn., a short distance west of Rochester, was fatally burned on his farm last Monday.

Mr. Tieden had lighted an oil heater about six in the morning and then started to add kerosene to the stove as it was burning with the result that the stove exploded.

He was rushed to a hospital in Rochester where he remained conscious until four in the afternoon and passed away at eight the same evening.

The house on the farm was completely destroyed and everything in the house was lost. He is survived by his widow, a daughter and two sons, Harold and Robert, the latter of whom is in a hospital in Owatonna suffering from severe burns.

The deceased's brothers, Frank and George left for Dodge Center early Monday morning and arrived in Rochester before his death but not until he had become unconscious. The remains were returned to Elkader yesterday and funeral services will be held from the Frank Tieden home near Communia this afternoon. Interment will be made in the Communia cemetery.
