Clayton County Register, Thur., 10 Dec. 1931.
Cyril Minchk, 24, of McGregor, took his own life at his home along the river, a short distance south of McGregor, last Sunday evening at about 9:15.
Minchk, apparently in a despondent frame of mind, used a 12 gauge shotgun with the barrel of the gun held against his neck. With the gun in this position he punched the trigger with a stove poker and death must have resulted instantly.
He had been living with his mother and two brothers, and only about six weeks ago was released from the county jail here, where he had served some time for a minor offense.
The coroner's jury, which consisted of L. L. Denning, Jess Vaughn and F. G. Smith, pronounced death by suicide.
