Margaret Isabelle Hughes, nee Marshall, daughter of Andrew and Sarah Marshall, passed away at her home in Littleport, Iowa, August 25, 1931, after an illness of six months.

She was born in Clayton County, Iowa, January 25, 1856, and was one of a family of four children, all preceding her in death. Her youngest brother Melvin passed away about a year ago in Eugene, Oregon.

In May, 1881, she was united in marriage to Amos W. Hughes of Littleport, Iowa. To this union two sons were born.

Mrs. Hughes has been a lifelong resident of Littleport being one of the pioneer settlers. She was ever ready to lend a helping hand to those in need. She was a kind and loving wife and was a patient sufferer to the end.

She leaves to mourn her aged husband, two sons, Warren and Ray, both residing in Littleport and three grandchildren, Helen, Ida Belle and Delbert Hughes.
