Mr. Frederick Kurth was born Oct. 24, 1851, in Nerdin, Kreis Anklam Province, Pommern, Germany. He received his entire training in religion and education in Germany. In 1871 he came to America and settled in Clayton County, where he spent the rest of his life. In 1877 he married Louisa Blume, and this union was blessed with ten children, three of whom preceded him in death. After working hard for many years on the farm, he and his wife moved to Farmersburg in 1923, to spend his retired life. Only a few weeks after he came to Farmersburg he had the misfortune to break his hip, from which he never fully recovered. The last eight months he was confined to his bed. He died July 03, 1931, attaining the age of nearly 80 years. He leaves to mourn his wife, 7 children, 21 grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, one brother of Monona and a sister at Canistota, S.Dak. Funeral services were held at the Lutheran church at Farmersburg Sunday, July 05, at 2:00 o'clock, Rev. Ave'Lallemant officiating. Burial at the Gooding church.

Kleima and family of Monona; Mr. and Mrs. Vick Trappa of Monona; Mr. and Mrs. Fred Klinkenberg, Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Klinkenberg of St. Olaf.
