Sarah E. McKinnis, daughter of Robert and Susan McKinnis, was born July 29, 1853, in Bluffton, Indiana, and died April 12, 1931, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Charles Sauerbry, near Strawberry Point. With the exception of two years spent in California with her parents, she has resided in Lodomillo township.

December 06, 1874, she was united in marriage to John E. Stalnaker. Four children were born to them: Dr. Frank Stalnaker of Edgewood; Earl and Mrs. Ella Sauerbry of Strawberry Point; and Eva, who died in infancy. Mr. Stalnaker's death occurred eleven years ago. Funeral services were held at the Charles Sauerbry home the afternoon of April 14th, services being conducted by Rev. C. Cleveland of Edgewood, assisted by Rev. T. R. Gray and Rev. Virgil Welch. The pall bearers were Will Knight, Irving Burgin, John Knight, E. Angier, Charles Smith and James Sauerbry. Burial was made in the Strawberry Point cemetery by the side of her husband.
