Frederick Roebken was born June 21, 1855, at Oldenburg, Germany, and died at his home in Garnavillo, Apr. 17, 1931, aged 75 years, 10 months and 27 days. He was one of a family of seven boys and two girls.
When he was about one year old his parents came to America and located at Cedarburg, Wisconsin. At this place he was confirmed on Apr. 11, 1869.
In 1875 Mr. Roebken came to Garnavillo, and was married to Margaret Schumacher, on Dec. 24, 1877. This union was blessed with four children, two boys and two girls, all of whom are yet living.
He was a painter by trade and spent the entire time since his marriage here in Garnavillo.
He leaves to mourn his death, his wife, two sons, Orville, Maringo, Ia.; and Abner, Garnavillo; two daughters, Clara, wife of R. O. Schumacher, Ganavillo; and Adelia, wife of A. W. Matt, Peru, Ind., and one sister, Mrs. Fred Bergman, Milwaukee, and four grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at St. Paul's Lutheran church Sunday afternoon, April 19, and conducted by the pastor, Rev. M. J. Harder. Interment was made at the new cemetery.
