Relatives and friends in this city of Mrs. Dorothea Scheidt were shocked to hear of her death Monday. Mrs. Dorothea Vogt Scheidt was born in Dubuque on Dec. 04, 1857, and on June 24, 1879, she and John Scheidt were married. They came to Guttenberg and lived on a farm in Jefferson township for several years. They adopted two girls, Mrs. John Eilers of Dubuque, and Mrs. Alphonso Vorwaldt of Guttenberg, who, with their father, are left to mourn her death. Two sisters, Misses Frances and Sarah Vogt, of Dubuque, and one brother, Ed. Vogt, of Los Angeles, Calif., also survive.

The funeral was held Thursday morning at 9 o'clock from St. Mary's church and the Rev. J. Dupont officiated in the church and at the cemetery.
