Gracie Mae Lamphier, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Elmer S. Lamphier, passed away at three p.m. Thursday, February 12, 1931, at her parents' home near Osborne.
She had been ill the past eight months with rheumatic fever and inflammation of the heart.
She is one of a family of twelve children, being survived by the following sisters and brothers: Mrs. Martha Hill, Dubuque, Iowa; Mrs. Sylvia Kirby, Chicago, Ill.; Mrs. Esther Quarterman, Galesburg, Ill.; Mrs. Arlene Burns of Rockford, Ill.; Mrs. Alma Jones, Volga City, Iowa; and Miss Lillian Lamphier, who is still at home , as are Henry, earl and Harlo. One half-brother, Bert, of Wadena, also survives her. Two brothers, Lester and Clarence, have preceded her in death.
Gracie Mae Lamphier was born in Elkport, Iowa, December 25, 1910, and died February 12, 1931.
When eight years old Gracie had her fist attack of inflammatory rheumatism. Again while in high school at about 18 years of age she was in bed all winter with the same malady. The disease again overtook her during her university work, from which attack she did not recover.
Gracie entered the Elkport high school in 1924, where she completed her secondary education. She was greatly beloved by all teachers and classmates. Her sweet, cheerful disposition won her many friends both in and outside of school.

Miss Grace Lamphier of Osborne was buried Saturday from the Presbyterian church. The remains were laid in Hill Crest cemetery.
