When John Dubbels went to the wood shed Saturday evening to get some wood, he fell over dead. He had been up town as usual and had been feeling fine. His widow and several daughters and two sons mourn his death.
Mrs. Wm. Borcherding, Misses Millie and Meta of Guttenberg, Mrs. Otto Beerman of Mason City, Mrs. Art Flech of Nebraska, Miss Alma Dubbels of Nebraska, Horace of Guttenberg and Emmett of Chicago. Mr. Dubbels was 80 years old and had always been a resident of this city, having had a harness shop here for 53 years. About a year ago he sold his shop.
Mr. Dubbels and Miss Anna Schutte were married in Glen Haven on Sept. 30, 1871, by Judge Basford. Mr. Dubbels operated a merry-go-round for several years and in the early years he was employed by the U.S. Government. A sister, Mrs. Alma Vetter, of Washington, also mourns his death.
The funeral was held Tuesday afternoon with the Rev. James Sopko officiating. Burial was made in the city cemetery.
