Clayton County Register, Thur., 12 Feb. 1931. Monona Column.
Patrick Connell, 50, lifelong farmer, died late Thursday night of pneumonia. His boyhood was spent on the old Connell homestead, east of Monona, where his good parents instilled in him those virtues which made him a true Christan gentleman.
Funeral services were held Monday morning from St. Patrick's Catholic church. A former member of the parish, Rev. Donald G. Peters, was celebrant of the requiem high mass, Father M. J. Hogan, for many years pastor at Monona, was deacon, and Father Luke Donlon, local pastor, was sub-deacon. Leo Berns was censor-bearer and James Peters and Gilbert Gerken were alcoyetes. Father Hogan delivered an impressive sermon. Father Donlon officiated at the grave.
Surviving Mr. Connell are five sisters, Miss Mary Connell at home, Mrs. Nora McDonald of Monona, Mrs. Rose McLane and Mrs. Julia Kroutkramer of Omaha, and Mrs. Alice Goosen of Selz, N.D., and two brothers, Mathew and Michael Connell.
