The funeral of Mrs. L. P. Goodman was held at the family home Thursday afternoon, services being conducted by Rev. T. J. Elwick of the M.E. church. Appropriate hymns were sung by Mesdames Carrie Stagle and B. W. Talcott. Interment was made in the local cemetery. The pallbearers were: Charles Blanchard, R. C. Norris, L. W. Preston, Wm. Baldridge, George Kramer and M. E. Arnold.

Mrs. Goodman, nee Elizabeth Alice Alderson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Richard Alderson, was born at Rickardsville, Dubuque County, Iowa, April 10, 1897*, and passed from this life at her home in Strawberry Point, Feb. 03, 1931, shortly after midnight. She grew to womanhood at Rickardsville where she attended the public school together with Louie P. Goodman, where they were always pals in their early days. Feb. 23, 1882, she was united in marriage to Louie P. Goodman at the parsonage of the Asbury Methodist church near Dubuque, Iowa. They lived a Rickardsville till 1884 when they moved to Strawberry Point, where they have lived ever since. To this union were born three children, Louis Roy who died ten years ago, a babe who died in infancy and Edwin F. who lives in Dubuque.

Besides her husband and son she leaves to mourn her loss four grandchildren, Eugene Metcalf and James William who have made their home with their grandparents and the twin babies Robert and Roy of Dubuque, also four brothers James Alderson of Alta, Iowa, Richard Alderson of Strawberry Point and John and Anthony Alderson of Dubuque, one sister, Mrs. J. P. (Hannah) Cooney of Chicago, two brothers George and Thomas, who preceded her in death.

Mrs. Goodman had been ill for about three years and has been a patient sufferer. She was an exemplary wife and mother and a loyal and faithful friend and neighbor and will be missed by all who knew her. She had been a resident of this community for the past forty-six years.

(Note: The birth year in the article is obviously in error. The Iowa State Historical Soc. death index gives DOB 4/10/1859.)
