Martha Ann Hines, daughter of Reason and Lydia Hines, was born in Clayton county, January 21, 1850, and died at her home in Lodomillo township, January 29, 1931, aged 81 years and 8 days.
She was one of a family of seven children, the others being Mrs. James Carney and Marion Hines of Minnesota and Mrs. Mary J. Kellogg, John and Frank Hines, deceased.
She was united in marriage to Hiram Hines in 1872. To this union three children were born, Willard and Clarence residing in this vicinity and Millard who died when a small child. The death of Mr. Hines occurred Oct. 20, 1909. Thirteen years ago Mrs. Hines had a leg broken. After this accident she was compelled to walk with crutches. A few years later she had an arm broken. Four years ago again had a leg broken, since which time she has been confined to her bed. Funeral services were held at the Pleasant Grove church January 31st, conducted by Rev. Elwick of Strawberry Point.
Burial was made in the Cox Creek cemetery.
