Clayton County Register, Thur., 21 Aug. 1930.

Mrs. Emeline Jesse Nading, one of our community's life-long residents, passed away at the home of her daughter, Alice, on Monday, August 11th, at the age of 54 years and 13 days.

Mrs. Nading, daughter of Wm. and Lucy Galer, was born July 29, 1876, at Osbourne, Iowa. Her entire life was spent in this vicinity. On July 10, 1893, she was united in marriage to Kasper Nading in Lodomillo township. To this union twelve children were born, namely: Willie, Charles, Alice, wife of Chas. Hubbard, Carl, George, Virgil, Ivanelle and Donald of this place; Clarence of Guttenberg; Lucy, wife of Herman Nightengale of Littleport, Alma, wife of Harry Everet of Masonville, and Leonard, who preceded his mother in death, Nov. 5, 1913.

Mr. and Mrs. Nading moved to Mederville about four years ago. Mrs. Nading always enjoyed good health until about a year ago, when her health began to fail. She was taken to Iowa City, June 12th, to find out the cause of her ailments. Receiving no help, she returned home and since then she has gradually grown weaker. Although everything possible was done for her, two weeks prior to her death she was brought to the home of her daughter, Alice, where, with the assistance of loved ones, and her many friends, who were ever ready to gratify every wish, and give tender care until she closed her eyes in sleep.

Besides the husband and children she leaves 14 grandchildren, three brothers to mourn her death, Willie Galer of Washington, John and Elmer of Bridgeport, Wis., her brother John has been with his sister during the last days. She will be greatly missed in the home and community.

She is gone but not forgotten,
May she rest in peace.

Funeral services were held on Wednesday, August 13th, with Rev. C. H. Franke of Elkader officiating and interment was made in the Littleport cemetery. The pallbearers were her six older sons.
