At 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, April 30, Mrs. Louisa Kafer passed away. Her health had been poor for six months although she was not seriously ill until the Sunday before her death. She died peacefully, fortified by the last rites of the Catholic church, of which she was a member.
Louisa Luers was born at Clayton April 13, 1896, the youngest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Luers. She attended school at Clayton and at the summer normal school, teaching two years at Osterdock and two at Littleport.
May 01, 1917, she married Jos. Kafer at Littleport. Ilene, Leo, Keith, and Louisa, their children, are left with the husband to mourn. Her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Luers, two brothers, Herman of Minneapolis, and Ray V. of Littleport, and one sister, Mrs. Alma Meehan of Clayton, also survive. Mr. Kafer's father, mother and wife have died within the past six months.
Funeral services were held Saturday at 10 a.m. from Sacred Heart church, Littleport. Rev. Father Goetsinger officiated. Clarence Kuehl, J. P. Zapf, E. C. Pust, Harold Liddy, Jos. Dinan and Hal Swenson were pall bearers. Burial was in the Sacred Heart cemetery.
A large attendance at the funeral evidenced the deep regard felt for the deceased in this community.
