Dr. S. C. Ainsworth of Volga City died at Rochester, Minn., Monday morning at 11:30 a.m. where he had gone to the Mayo Clinic. His remains were brought to Volga City, Monday afternoon. Funeral services will be held from the Presbyterian church, Thursday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock with the Rev. W. H. Smith officiating.

Dr. Ainsworth had been a resident of Volga City for the past twenty years, during which time he has been practicing medicine.

Sidney Corbin Ainsworth, was born in Syracuse, New York, on the 6th day of January, 1877. His father, a physician, brought his family to West Union, Iowa in the fall of 1882. The parents remained at that place until they passed away, his mother in 1902, and his father in 1916.

Dr. Ainsworth attended public school in his home town. For his medical training he attended the College of Physicians and Surgeons at St. Louis, Missouri. He was graduated from this school in 1899.

For a while he practiced medicine with his father Dr. E.A. Ainsworth at West Union, In 1901 he located in Volga City, Iowa, where he continued to practice his profession until his demise.

He was married to Katherine Hartman on the 25th day of September, 1901. Of the three children, the youngest, Katherine, died February 6th, 1919. Dorothy, the eldest is an instructor in the School of Nursing of the Presbyterian Hospital in Chicago. Sidney graduated from the State University at Iowa City in June last year, and is now holding a teaching position in the High School at Waucoma, in this state.

Doctor Ainsworth enjoyed an extensive practice to the time of his death. For several years he was not in his usual health. Several complications seemed to draw on his vitality until heart trouble caused his death Monday the 28th day of April, 1930.

He leaves besides his devoted wife and children named, one sister, Mrs. Fanny L. Dykins of Lewistown, Montana.

Funeral services were held at the Presbyterian church on Thursday May 1st. The body lay in state at the church from one o'clock until two o'clock, and the constant line of friends passing thru the church gave an expression of the respect in which the deceased was held in the community. Services were conducted by Rev. W.H. Smith of Hazelton, Iowa, former pastor of this community and a close friend of the Ainsworth family, assisted by the Rev. J.R. Browne, pastor of the Presbyterian church.

The impressive services of the Masonic order, conducted by Elkader Lodge, was given at the cemetery, with the Knight Templar lodge of West Union forming the escort.

Pall bearers from the house to the church were L.J. Tenney, E.S. Clark, D.J. Crain, Herbert H. Smith, Ernest T. Smith and Fred Susie of Marshalltown. From the church to the cemetery the pall bearers were Dr. Brown of Littleport, Fred Schneider of West Union, Henry Wolfe of Elkader, L.J. Tenney, Herbert H. Smith and Ernest T. Smith of Volga.

We join in extending our sincere sympathy to the bereaved family and relatives.
