Mrs. Marie Dorothea Elizabeth Bottelman, nee Fick, was born March 27, 1842, in Baarz, Prussia. She left her home in 1864, immigrating to America and living in Chicago, Ill., two years. In 1865 she was united in holy wedlock to Herman Bottelman, who preceded her in death May 18, 1923.
In 1867 they moved to Clayton county where they made their home. The last 6 1/2 years the mother made her home with her daughter, Lena, and son-in-law, Charles Stone, at which place she was at the time of her passing, April 21, 1930, reaching an age of 88 years and 24 days.
Those left to mourn her passing are: Herman Bottelman, Northwood; Henry Bottelman, Littleport; John Bottelman, Florida; Mrs. Lizzie Ross, Austin, Minn.; Mrs. Mattie Pollock, Oelwein; Mrs. Mary Gentz, Edgewood; Mrs. Lena Stone, Littleport. There are also 27 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and many other relatives and friends who mourn the loss of a friend and neighbor. The deceased was a baptized, confirmed soul.
Funeral services were held Friday, April 25, 1930, at noon at the Lutheran Hope church at Littleport. Burial took place at the cemetery at Mederville. The Rev. F. E. Damm was in charge.
