Mrs. Joseph Auer was called to her reward Sunday morning at 3 o'clock at her home in Garnavillo township after an illness of eight months of patient suffering. Mrs. Auer was a devoted member of the Catholic church all of her life and passed peacefully away in that faith. She was a good and kind mother and was held in high esteem by all who knew her. Her husband preceded her in death Feb. 26, 1924.
She is survived by her five respected children, Mrs. F. M. Hohman, John J. and Calesta, all at home, Mrs. Ben Berns, McGregor, and Mrs. Otto Beck of Elkader. Six grandchildren, three sisters and a number of relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held Wednesday morning at 10 o'clock with requiem High Mass by the Rev. Father Scharphoff officiating. Interment was in the Garnavillo cemetery. The pallbearers were: Ed. Hoeger, H. Ehlburg, Hugo Kann, Herman Berns, Albert Mueller and Frank Rohner. Honorary pallbearers: J. W. Hudek, J. Kister, F. Berns, F. Fisher, Herman Berns, H. Schulte.
