Margaret R. Hammell

Margaret R. Hammell, age 79, of Strawberry Point, died Friday, February 20, 2004, at Regional Medical Center in Manchester, Iowa, after a brief illness. Funeral services were held Tuesday, February 24 at St. Mary's Catholic Church with Father Jack Paisley officiating. Burial was in Strawberry Point. Roberson Funeral Home, Strawberry Point, was in charge of arrangements.

Margaret Ruth was born April 3, 1924, in Barton, Wis., the daughter of George and Frances (Schare) Winckler. She married Cletus J. Hammell September 30, 1950, in Barton, Wis. Margaret was a housewife and enjoyed cooking for others and loved to sew dresses for her granddaughters. She also loved to read and spend time with her children and grandchildren. She was also a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church.

Survivors include her husband, Cletus of Strawberry Point; three sons, David (Wilma) Hammell of Boscobel, Wis., Gary (Tammy) Hammell of Waukesha, Wis., and Paul (Diane) Hammell of Marshalltown, Iowa; five daughters, Joyce (Bill) Trewin of Denver, Iowa, Diane Hammell of Manchester, Jane Hammell of Cedar Rapids, Kathy (Terry) Easton of Burlington, Wis., and Ann Hammell of Denver, Colo.; 13 grandchildren, Chris Hammell and Lacy Parish, Eric Hammell, Meagan Trewin, Melissa Trewin, Keisha Hammell, Nathan Hammell, Rachel Hammell, Josh Easton, Jamie Easton, Shannell Lord, Tyler Campbell, Alison Hammell, and Austin Hammell; one brother, Edward Winckler of West Bend, Wis.; and two sisters, Katherine Sennehen of Beaver Dam, Wis., and Mary Giese of Fond du Lac, Wis.

She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Robert, Frederick, and George; and an infant daughter, Mary Kay.

Casketbearers were Josh Easton, Eric Hammell, Terry Easton, Chris Hammell, Nathan Hammell, and Bill Trewin.
