Elkader Register, Thur., 20 May 1920.

Our community was much surprised and shocked Monday when the news spread that Mrs. George Lenth had died that morning at ten o'clock after a very brief illness. She had been apparently in her usual good health up to within three days before, when she became indisposed and called a physician. Symptoms of serious kidney trouble were found and in spite of efforts to combat it uraemic poisoning set in and progressed swiftly until the end.

Ella C. Schock was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Schock and was born in Elkader June 24th, 1880. She grew to womanhood here receiving her education in the Elkader schools and graduating from the Elkader High School in June 1898.

On Nov. 15th, 1899, she was married to George J. Lenth, of this place, who preceded her in death about two years ago.

Two children were born to them: Lawrence G. now aged sixteen years and Edison A. aged three. To them the loss of their mother with the previous death of their father, means probably more than they will ever know.

Besides her two boys Mrs. Lenth is survived by three brothers, Fred, of Everett, Wash.; William, of Dubuque, Carl, of St. Paul, Minn., and three sisters, Mrs. Wm. Monlux, of Highland township, Mrs. Martha Heise of Illinois and Louise, who had made her home with Mrs. Lenth for several years.

The funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at the Congregational church of which Mrs. Lenth was a devoted member, Rev. C. W. Hempstead officiating, and interment was made in the East Side cemetery, the ladies of the O.E.S. conducting the services at the grave.

Notwithstanding the fact that Mrs. Lenth was a home woman devoting her main energies to her home and family she found time to take an active part in the affairs of the Congregational Church, the Ladies Guild, the O.E.S. and M.B.A. of which societies she was a member. She will be missed greatly in these circles and by many friends who sorrow with the bereaved ones.
