Elkader Register, Thur., 20 May 1920. Strawberry Point column.

The death of Irvin J. Wenzel, the seventeen year old son of Mr. and Mrs. Julius Wenzel, passed away at his home Saturday evening after a lingering illness with tuberculosis. He was a member of the junior class but was compelled to give up his school work on account of illness. A few weeks ago he returned home from Oakdale where he had been in hopes he might find relief but the doctors advised him to return home as he had but a short time to live. He bore his sufferings patiently. Besides his parents he leaves one brother and two sisters, Ed Wentzel, and Miss Lelia Wentzel and Mrs. Oscar Steele to mourn his loss. Funeral services occurred at the Lutheran church Monday afternoon conducted by Rev. Fritschel, the high school teachers and scholars attending in a body. Interment took place in the beautiful cemetery.

(Note: The surname Wenzel/Wentzel was spelled both ways in the article, as shown.)
