Funeral services for Fred C. Larson, 79, who died suddenly while returning from a fishing trip at 5:30 last Wednesday afternoon, were held Sunday afternoon at St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran church. The Rev. L.C. Urlaub officiated. Burial was in the Norwegian Lutheran church cemetery near McGregor.
Mr. Larson was born oct. 1, 1875, on a farm a few miles south of McGregor. He was baptized and confirmed in the Swedish Lutheran church south of McGregor.
On Oct. 21, 1909, he was married to Miss Clara Leibrand in the same church. From the time of his marriage until 1952, Mr. Larson followed his trade as a blacksmith in various communities in Clayton county.
In 1940, he and his family moved to Garnavillo, where he continued in his trade until his retirement in 1952.
Besides his wife, Mr. Larson is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Howard Hockett of Ames and Mrs. John Ferch of Waterloo, one son, Glenn, of Ames; one sister, Mrs. Mamie Franz of McGregor, and one grandson. Twin sons died in infancy.
Mr. Larson was an active member of the Swedish LUtheran church where he served as church organist.
