Elkader Register, Thur., 22 Apr. 1920.

Kate Ehrhardt, only daughter of John and Bertha Ehrhardt, died at 12:30 Tuesday morning, April 20th, at St. Joseph's Hospital, Chicago. Kate was born January 10, 1893 on the Ehrhardt farm, South of Elkader, and died at the age of 27 years, 3 months ad 10 days.

In 1913 they moved to Elkader and have since made this their home. She was a member of the confirmation class of the Evangelical Church in the year 1910 and was for some time a teacher in the Sunday School. She also attended the local high school for some time.

In 1916 she entered the Church School of Art in Chicago and finished the course in Commercial Art the next year. The following year she remained at home, again returning to Chicago in the fall of 1919, accepting a position as designer with the University Publishing Company.

She was taken sick about the middle of March and was soon removed to St. Joseph's Hospital where two operations were performed, the last one on Monday, April 12. During her recent illness her father was constantly with her, having gone to that city when she was taken ill.

Kate's death will be a shock to her many friends and relatives who will miss her sadly, as her sunny smile and sweet disposition brought happiness to all she came in contact with.

She leaves to mourn her death her father, mother and brother Will and family who live on the farm home, and a host of relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held tomorrow afternoon at 1:30 at the home and at 2:00 at the Evangelical church with Rev. C. H. Franke officiating. Interment will be made in the East Side cemetery.
