Elkader Register, Thur., 15 Apr. 1920. Strawberry Point column.
The funeral of John Weisneder, aged 51 years, occurred Monday afternoon at the Lutheran church and was one of the largest funeral services held here. Rev. G. Fritschel delivered the English sermon and Rev. Rembold a friend of the Weisender family, of Greene preaching the German sermon. On account of failing health Mr. Widsender had to give up the farm and last February came to town and moved into his aunt's Mrs. Theresa Weisender's house on Elkader street. He had been suffering with tuberculosis for sometime and death came as a relief last Friday. He leaves to mourn besides his wife formerly Miss Ida Falck and two sons and two daughters Elmer, Lawrence, Lillian and Edith, an aged mother two brothers and two sisters.
(Note: The surname was spelled variously as shown in the obit. The spelling on his gravestone = WESENDER)
