Elkader Register, Thur., 08 Apr. 1920. Strawberry Point column.

Our people were shocked Monday night when word was spread from one to another of the death of a veteran of the Civil War, M. E. Knight. Mr. Knight had been in poor health all winter but his friends looked forward to his recovery. His wife preceded him a number of years ago. He leaves three sons and one daughter, John, Will, Earl and Mrs. Chas. Smith, all of this place. No funeral arrangements have yet been made. Thus our old soldiers are going one by one.
