Milton Monlux Dies Saturday

Funeral Tuesday for Elkader Man

Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon for Milton D. Monlux, 54, Elkader insurance man who died Saturday afternoon, April 19, at General Hospital in Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin. He had suffered a stroke and was taken to the hospital April 15.

Masonic services were conducted at the Witt chapel Monday evening. Funeral services were held at the Elkader Congregational Christian Church at 2 o'clock Tuesday, April 22, with the Rev. George Richter, church pastor, officiating. Burial was in the Wagner Township cemetery.

He was born on a Wagner township farm on October 20, 1903, and was a son of William C. and Rosa Schoch Monlux. In 1938 he was married to Miss Alice Mahnke of Farmersburg.

Monlux made his home on the Wagner township farm until 1946 when he moved to Elkader to become affiliated with his father in the Monlux Insurance Agency. He also served as a deputy county assessor and assisted with the appraisal of real estate in Clayton county at the inception of Iowa's new county assessor law in 1949. For a number of years he was a Wagner township trustee.

He was a member and a past master of the Masonic lodge at Farmersburg and a member of the O.E.S. in Elkader. He also was a member of the Congregational Christian church in Elkader.

Surviving are his wife and his father.

Pallbearers were: Arthur Hochhaus, Glendor Freitag, Gustave Kuhse, Russell Leeman, Carl Gail and Jens Jensen.

Relatives from out of town who attended the funeral were: Mr. and Mrs. Delos D. Monlux of Algona, Mr. and Mrs. Edison Lenth of Waukon, Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Mahnke of Madison, Wis., Harvey Mahnke of Lexington, Ky., and Mrs. Olga Oelke of Farmersburg.
