Henry Musfeld was born at Brutz, Germany, Aug. 24, 1832 and passed away at the home of his son, William, near Elkader, Iowa, on Sunday morning, March 7, 1920, at the age of 87 years, 6 months and 13 days.

His childhood and school days were spent at the place of his birth. Then he worked on a farm until he had reached the age of 20 years, when he came to this country, arriving at New York, Dec. 2, 1852. From there he left for Rochester, N.Y., where he worked on a farm. The following year, on April 26, 1853, he was married to Sophia Schultz. To this union one daughter was born. On May 8, 1857 the wife and mother died. The next year the husband and child came to Clayton county, Iowa, where he engaged in farming.

On April 3, 1862 he was married for the second time to Sophia Koehn, nee Suckow. nine children were born to this union, some of which preceded their father in death.

Dec. 30, 1909 his second wife died. From that time on he made his home with his son, William and family, and received the best of care in his reclining years.

His departure is mourned by his children: Mrs. Lizzy Katschkowsky, Mrs. Minnie Moran, Mrs. Sophia Buschkowsky, William Musfeld, Albert Musfeld and two step-sons: Henry Koehn and John Koehn.

Besides these he leaves twenty grandchildren and two great-grandchildren, and a host of old time friends and neighbors.

Funeral services were held at the home of his son, William, yesterday forenoon at 10:00 o'clock and interment was made in Musfeld cemetery near Littleport. Rev. C. H. Franke officiated.
