Wm. Eli Elmore was born in New York City, October 20th, 1834. He came with his parents, one brother and one sister to Indiana, where they lived until 1855, when they moved to Farmersburg, Iowa, onto a farm. A few years after he began work as a tinner for Davis & Bawley. In 1864 he united with the Methodist church. February 9th, 1869, he was married to Martha Jane Jacobs, of Hardin. To this union were born three children, two boys and one daughter. One boy died in infancy. Albert Eugene died June 19th, 1897. Since the marriage of his daughter, Clara Lorena, to Andrew Reuss, he made his home with them. November 4th he fell and broke his leg and on November 26th, 1915, his Lord and Master called him to rest. He leaves his wife, daughter and her husband and three grandchildren. He was a kind husband and father and will be greatly missed. Funeral services were held at his daughter's home in Postville, Iowa, by Rev. P. M. :Phillips, assisted by Rev. J. F. Childress at 11 a.m. on Monday. Interment at Monona where Rev. J. B. Bird and a number of friends met them on their arrival.
