William Hartman died at his home in Cox Creek township, Monday evening, August 30th, after a serious illness of about two weeks, aged fifty-one years. Deceased was born December 10th, 1863, on the farm where he died. It was always his home, where he devoted his life to his parents. He was never married.
He is survived by one brother, Otto Hartman, of Mason City, who, with his wife, tenderly cared for the deceased during his illness. Two aunts, Mrs. Barbara Ritter and Mary Neumeister, of Chicago, also survive. Three sisters and a brother died some years ago.
The funeral services were held at the home this afternoon at two o'clock, conducted by Rev. C. H. Franke in the presence of a large number of friends and neighbors, and he was laid to rest in the family cemetery on the old farm.
Mr. Hartman was a man of the highest character and his early death will be regretted by a wide circle of friends.
