Register and Argus, 24 June 1915. Monona column.
Walter Thompson was born in Monona twp. Dec. 14, 1869, and had spent his entire life in these parts and is well known to the people of this community, having many warm friends here. About six years ago he moved from the farm to Monona, purchasing a pleasant home in the west part of town where he and his sister made their home. The funeral took place last Thursday afternoon with prayer at the house at 1:45. The cortege then formed and proceeded to the Congregational church where service was held, with the Rev. R. G. Heddon, the acting pastor, officiating, preaching from the text of Samuel 20:3 "It is but a step between me and death." The choir sang four very appropriate hymns. The church was overfilled by mourners and friends, testifying to the general esteem in which deceased was held by all. The body was laid to rest in the Monona Cemetery.
