Alva F. Rogers was born April 27th, 1859, at Garnavillo, Iowa, and died at his home in Farmersburg, Iowa, on May 3rd, 1915. He was married to Kittie Blackburn at McGregor, Iowa, April 18th, 1887. who preceded him in death Feb. 13th, 1906. He leaves to mourn his passing four children, Fred, of New York City, Jennie, of Chicago; Mary and Helen, of Farmersburg, also one grandchild, two brothers, Frank, of Britt, Iowa, and Mac, of Aroga, Colo.; the former was present at the funeral. Mr. Rogers spent a number of years in successful school work, the last six years of his school work being at Farmersburg. He was appointed postmaster here in 1908, which office he held at the time of his death, filling this office during these years to the satisfaction of all. Funeral services were held here Wednesday afternoon at 1:00 o'clock in the M.E. church, conducted by W. J. Laughlin, of Beloit, Wis. The choir consisted of Walter Sargent, of Madison, Wis., Albert Schlatter, of McGregor, Emil Schlatter and Miss Eva Schlatter, of Lawler, Chas. Morrison, of McGregor.
The children have the sympathy of all in their sad bereavement. Burial in the McGregor cemetery by the side of his wife.
