The death of Mrs. Carl Stahl occurred at her home in this township on Sunday, May 9th, 1915, of heart failure and old age.
Ernestine Heiden was born near Stavenhagen, Mecklenburg, Germany, Feb. 23rd, 1836. She grew to womanhood and was married to Carl Stahl in her native land. Some fifty years ago they came to America, locating near Elkport and later going to the farm south of town that has been her home for so many years.
Thirteen children were born to them, of whom eight survive. They are Fred, Mary (Mrs. D. C. Hale_), August, Mike, Emma (Mrs. Chas. Perry), Louis, George and Edward. Two children died in infancy while Charles, John and Lena (Mrs. Ed. Jennings) were called in later life. Her husband died in 1905.
The funeral was held Wednesday morning at the German church at this place, Rev. Franke officiating, and she was laid in the East Side cemetery.
