Clayton County Journal, 22 Apr. 1885.

DIED - Mary E, McLoughlin, wife of J. W. McLoughlin [sic], at his residence in Highland township, Monday morning, April 20th, 1885.

Mary E. Orr, daughter of Frederick Orr, was born in Highland township, Clayton county, Iowa, in 1859, and was married to Mr. McLoughlin March 17th, 1884. About four months ago an examination of her lungs showed them to be affected. From that time she has sunk rapidly under the ravages of quick consumption, until death severed the last connecting link on Monday morning. A three months old boy is left to cheer the saddened father, who, after a short thirteen months of wedded life, is called upon to give up a beloved wife. The funeral procession will leave the residence, 5 miles west of Elkader, at 9 o'clock this (Wednesday) morning.
