Clayton County Journal, 22 Apr. 1885.
DIED - Adeline Dierson Carr, wife of John Carr, of Communia, Iowa, died Sunday morning, April 19th, 1885, at 8 o'clock.
Mrs. Carr was born in Charleston, South Carolina, and was at the time of her death 35 years of age. About five years ago she came with her husband to Clayton county, and has since then resided on the farm near Communia, owned by John Van Staden, of McGregor, who is an uncle of Mr. Carr. Mrs. Carr was taken sick Friday, but not realizing her condition, she would not allow a physician to be called, and breathed her last Sunday morning without medical advice. The boy baby born about ten days before her death still lives, but his death is feared at any moment. It is a sad affliction for the bereaved husband, who is left with seven children, the oldest not over thirteen years of age. The funeral was held Monday afternoon, and the remains were, by request, interred upon the farm.

Note: The 1882 biography of John Kahrs names her as Adeline, daughter of William and Catherine (Strickfuss) Dierssen
